As a common tool for homes, offices, and light work, the lifespan and safety of telescopic ladders depend not only on product quality but also on proper daily maintenance. Whether used at home or for light work, improper maintenance after prolonged use can easily lead to problems such as extension/retraction jamming, ladder aging, and loose parts, shortening their lifespan and creating safety hazards.

Prompt cleaning after each use is fundamental to maintaining a telescopic ladder. After use, dust and stains easily accumulate on the surface. If used outdoors or in humid environments, moisture and sand may also remain. Long-term accumulation can affect the smoothness of extension and retraction and accelerate the aging of the ladder. Therefore, after each use, wipe the ladder surface with a dry, soft cloth, paying special attention to cleaning areas prone to dust accumulation such as the telescopic joints and ladder feet. Remove dust, stains, and moisture to prevent moisture residue from causing rust or material aging. If the ladder comes into contact with rainwater or sewage, rinse it thoroughly with clean water and then dry it with a soft cloth to ensure no moisture remains.

To prevent damage to the ladder and take protective measures, you can effectively extend its service life. During use, avoid collisions and friction between the ladder and sharp objects to prevent scratches and damage to the ladder surface. If damage occurs, repair it promptly with a specialized repair agent to prevent the damage from spreading and affecting its load-bearing capacity. Furthermore, never use excessive force to stretch or retract the ladder; operate slowly and steadily to prevent damage to the telescopic joints, which could lead to jamming or loosening. In addition, avoid bearing weights exceeding the ladder's rated capacity to prevent overloading that could cause breakage or deformation.

Regular comprehensive inspections and timely identification of safety hazards are key to maintenance. It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the telescopic ladder at least once a month, focusing on core components such as the telescopic joints, locking devices, anti-slip pads at the ladder feet, and bolts. Check that the joints move smoothly without jamming, and that the locking devices are secure and reliable; if jamming occurs, apply a small amount of special lubricant. Check that the bolts are not loose; tighten any loose bolts immediately to prevent parts from falling off. Check that the anti-slip pads at the ladder feet are intact and not missing, and that their anti-slip effect meets standards; replace severely worn anti-slip pads promptly to prevent slipping during use.

Proper storage, providing a suitable environment for the telescopic ladder, can reduce aging and wear. When storing, the telescopic ladder should be completely folded and placed in a dry, ventilated, and cool environment, away from high temperatures, humidity, and corrosive substances. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent the ladder material from becoming brittle and aging. After folding, avoid stacking or placing heavy objects on it to prevent deformation. Also, keep it away from areas accessible to children to prevent accidental damage and safety hazards.

For telescopic ladders that are not used for a long period, special maintenance is required. If the telescopic ladder will not be used for an extended period, it must be thoroughly cleaned and inspected before storage to ensure it is free of dust and moisture, and that all parts are secure. If necessary, apply lubricating oil and rust-preventive oil for protection. Before using it again, a comprehensive inspection must be conducted to confirm that the ladder body is free of abnormalities and that all parts are functioning normally before putting it into use.
